Southern Greek Housing Conference

On Feb 28th Jonathan “Atari” Chaffin GT’00 and Rebecca Howie GT’03 attended the Inaugural Southern Greek Housing Conference hosted by The Laurus Group. Topics discussed included alumni retention and recruitment, insurance, issues surrounding Fraternal organizations, and the outsourcing of things like alumni newsletters, property maintenance, and food service programs.

There was also a speaker regarding The Collegiate Housing and Infrastructure Act (CHIA) (H.R.643/S.638 which will make donations for Fraternity House improvements tax deductible (more info here at fratpac.org and here at fraternalcaucus.org/.

Another major topic of discussion was fraternity house renovation; expect more notes on the details of that discussion later.

Alumni Weekend ’09

So, Alumni Weekend is coming up April 4-5. As of now we’re thinking Chili Cook-Off and possibly going to a park to have some fun. I’ll let you know when plans are finalized so you can have a better idea of what’s going on. In any case, we’d love for as many alumni to come as possible.

Clint Weigel GT’10, current Archon of the active chapter, was invited to dinner to receive a plaque on behalf of the chapter. The plaque lists each of the alumni who graciously supported the chapter with donations from Dec 07 – Dec 08. One of the goals for PUSOG for 2008 was to implement a donor recognition program. This plaque and the thank you notes donors received are some of the fruits of that budding program.
